Buck’s Pocket State Park
Groveoak, Alabama (256)659-2000
This park brings back memories of the fist time I went repelling and climbing. My scout troop took the older boys to Buck’s Pocket to learn this valuable skill. I had just moved up into “high adventure”, the level in which the fun, read that as dangerous fun, began. I remember getting up early and seeing the sunrise over the canyon rim and being a nervous about the activities to came that day. All went without a hitch and we all had a great time. I have been back many times since then but that first trip is the memory that sticks in my mind when I think about Buck’s Pocket.
